2016 NC AAU Gymnastics Program Updates

*All changes will be effective August 2016

Meet Registration Price Increase: Meet entry fees are changing to cover the increase in costs to meet directors (increased judges wages, mileage, awards, etc).  NC AAU has not increased costs to meet fees in many years.  We are still proud to offer the lowest competition fees in state.

Qualifiers             $50/gymnast (In-house)

                            $60/gymnast (outside facility)

State Meet         $70/gymnast

Online Meet Registration: We will be transitioning to a new online meet registration company for Team NC fees, qualifiers & state meets.  More details will be shared at the July Bi-Annual meeting.

AAU Congress:  The Team NC AAU Board will be hosting a state AAU Congress this fall.  Please send in any topics you would like to be covered (Xcel, technique, spotting, meet directing, etc.) to Cris Fuller at knightdalegym@gmail.com

First Qualifier: Coaches entering gymnasts into their first qualifier of the season must determine each gymnasts division based on their individual level of proficiency if an all-around score has not yet been achieved.  Some suggestions are:

• use gymnasts’ all-around scores achieved at an invitational that season if applicable
• use the athletes highest score from their previous season if repeating a level
• estimate their score on each event and calculate a rough estimated all-around
• host an informal mock-meet in your own gym and hire a judge to evaluate your gymnasts and establish a base line of all-around scores (contact Terri Costa, NC NAWGJ State Judging Director for more info)

Meet Intents:  It is CRITICAL that you submit your intent to any AAU meet you intend on attending as these intents are instrumental during the judging assignment process.  Clubs who submit their intent on the NC-NAWGJ.org website will be given priority in the meet registration process!

2017 AAU Southern Regionals- May 19-21 @ University of North Carolina (Greensboro, NC)

2017 AAU Age Group Nationals- June 21-25 @ Meadow View Marriot Resort (Kingsport, TN)
