AAU Player Pitch Rules
8:u Division

A. AGE CUT OFF
Age 8:u. Cut off date is August 2st. Player may not turn 9 before August 1st. Please have Birth Certificates or copies available for inspection at check in.

B. NATIONAL FEDERATION RULES
National Federation Rules apply with the following AAU Exceptions

C. BASEBALL USED
The Rawlings AAU approved baseball must be used for all National Tournaments. This is a hard regular baseball.

D. RECOMMENDED FENCE DISTANCE
The recommended fence distance is from 140 feet to 200 feet.

E. ROSTER SIZE
Roster size will be a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 15 players. A minimum of two (2) coaches and a maximum of four (4) coaches per roster. A bat person is also permitted under the age of 18 years old. All must be current AAU members.

F. BAT RESTRICTIONS
There are no bat restrictions.

G. REGULATION GAME AND TIME LIMIT
A regulation game will be five (5) innings.

H. Time limit will be one (1) hour and 30 minutes.

I. The 10-Run and the 15-Run Rule shall apply four (4) innings and (3.5 innings if the home team is ahead). The 15-Run Rule shall apply after three (3) innings and (2.5 if home team is ahead). Mandatory except in Bronze and Gold medal games.

J. BASE PATH
Base paths will be 60 feet.

K. PITCHING
Pitching will be 40 feet pitcher plate

L. A pitcher may pitch a maximum of 3 innings per day. A pitcher may pitch in a cumulative maximum of five (5) innings in consecutive calendar days after which that must not pitch the next calendar day. An inning pitched constitutes throwing one pitch to one batter or being officially entered into the pitching position.
PENALTY: THE INELIGIBLE PITCHER AND HEAD COACH ARE EJECTED

M. BALKS
In the 8:u division balks shall not be allowed

N. HEAD FIRST SLIDE
In the 8:u Coach Pitch Division, a player sliding head first into home base will be called out.

O. BATTING
No Designated Hitter Rule

P. Teams must have a set batting order of nine (9) players. Coaches will have an option of batting ten (10) players if they desire.

Q. You must have at least nine (9) players to start a game, and eight (8) players to finish a game or it will be ruled a forfeit.

R. A bat boy will be allowed in the dugout. Any time the bat boy comes onto the playing field, he must wear a batting helmet.

S. A team whose batter slings a bat will receive on the first incidence a warning. The second incidence by any batter will be an out.

T. Bunting is permitted. No fake bunts, player showing bunt may not fake bunt and swing in an effort to hit the ball. PENALTY IS THE BATTER IS OUT, AND THE BALL IS DEAD.

U. Batted balls, unless called foul by the umpire, is alive and in play until the defense stops the progress of all runners AND THE UMPIRE CALLS TIME OUT. The ball is dead until the next batter.

V. Only one (1) batter allowed in the on deck circle. All other players must remain in the dugout.

W. DEFENSIVE
Nine (9) players will play when a team is in the outfield.

X. Defensive substitutions may occur at the coach's discretion.

Y. Teams finishing with less than 9 players must still provide a catcher in the catcher position.

Z. The catcher must be properly equipped.

AA. A safety line will be 30 feet from home plate. No player may be inside of the safety line on contact of a batted ball. PENALTY-BATTER WILL BE AWARDED FIRST BASE.

BB. There is no infield fly rule.

CC. BASE RUNNING
All runners shall be in contact with their bases and shall not leave their bases until the ball crosses the plate and is out upon leaving the base early. IMMEDIATE DEAD BALL will be called.

DD. On a dropped third strike, the batter is out and base runners may advance at their own risk.

EE. A runner can steal second and third base but cannot steal home at anytime.

FF. BASE COACHES
First and Third base coaches only will be allowed.

GG. AAU PATCH
The AAU Patch is mandatory.

HH. SPEED UP RULES
Speed up rules will be used for the catcher and pitcher. The last batter that made an out, may run for your catcher at any time, but it is not mandatory.

II. TIME OUTS
National High School Federation Rules Apply.

JJ. RAIN
Teams should report to venues, if there is any doubt of game being played. The responsibility will be on the head coach to find out if games are rained out. Coaches must come to venues to find out if games will be played, or if a game has been rescheduled. If at all possible, games will be played in complete.

Games that are stopped will be continued from the point of stopping, if not reached official game status. Rain delays could last for any period of time. The tournament director has the authority to change the format of the tournament due to inclement weather.

If rain occurs after official game status has been reached, and the games cannot continue due to rain and field conditions, that game will be called and become a complete official game. Only the tournament director will make that decision.

KK. FORFEITS
The tournament committee shall administer the rule so that any team which forfeits will not benefit and may not advance to championship pool play or bracket play, unless the tournament committee determines there were extenuating circumstances causing the forfeit. Teams not having enough players to participate from either starting or ending a game, will not be considered extenuating circumstances.

LL. PROTEST
Protests must be made verbally with the umpires by the offended team at the time of the play and before the next pitch is thrown. A fee of $100.00 cash (refunded if upheld) must accompany the protest. All decisions of the protest committee shall be final. Only the decision involving the misinterpretation of misapplication or a rule may be protested. No protest shall be allowed in matters involving solely the officials judgement.

MM. EJECTIONS
Manager, coach, or players in all age divisions, the first occurrence results in the suspension for the game and the removal from the game venue, and also the next scheduled game. The coach is not permitted at the game venue for his suspension game. A player ejected may remain in the dugout after being ejected.

A second ejection during the tournament results in suspension for the remainder of the tournament as well as possible imposition of further sanctions subject to the review of the AAU Tournament Officials.

NN. MISC. RULES
No coaches or officials will be allowed to use any tobacco products inside the fence, including the dugout. First action will be a warning from the umpire. Second action will require the offender to leave the playing field.

OO. A maximum of four (4) adults allowed in the dugout at any time.
