Bill organized The Greensboro Emeralds Basketball club in 1983 and soon became involved in the NCAAU district management. He became Girls Basketball Director in 1990 and served in the position for 20 years. He also was a ten-year member of the Girls Basketball National Executive Committee. He was an AAU Congress member from NC for 20 years as well. Bill was awarded the NC Volunteer of the year, The President’s Leadership Award, and was a three-time winner of the Ruthie Webster award from the National Girls Basketball Committee.

Bill organized and managed the NC Representatives for the Jr. Olympic Games, Girls Basketball event, and was rewarded with four National titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006. Bill was recognized as a selfless and tireless volunteer in NC and the National AAU. Bill and his wife (Jean, a fellow Hall of Famer) helped make the NC Girls Program among the Nations best. Bill passed away in 2012.
