The Greensboro Area Convention & Visitor Bureau is an independent, non-profit governmental authority whose mission is to aggressively market Greensboro’s assets, maximizing economic impact while providing excellent visitor service. Guilford County ranks third in the state in travel and tourism expenditures, with over 1.34 billion generated in 2016 and nearly 13,500 people employed in travel-related jobs.
The Greensboro CVB has become a special friend and ally to the North Carolina AAU. They have assisted in acquiring and producing statewide, regional, and national championships in sports such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, and others. The assistance provided has been crucial and has made many things possible.
Several years ago, the club entered the bidding battle for the Jr. Olympic games. That of course is a huge event including over 15,000 athletes. This is a major investment of money and human resources. Greensboro won!! The City is now included in the rotation of host cities, and we will see the JO games in 2019 and beyond. A great achievement for the Greensboro Area CVB and for the NC AAU.
