William is already a member of the AAU Strength Sports Hall of Fame. He has excelled as a competitor, coach, volunteer and judge for nearly thirty years.

Williams graduated from Winston Salem State University and was a member of the first wrestling team at the school where he also played football.

As a competitor in powerlifting, he won national and world championships in six different weight classes and was ranked in the top 20 power lifters in the world.

In 1997, William founded Project Lift in Henderson, NC. Project Lift is an after-school program designed to help at risk boys and girls by teaching life skills through fitness and strength training. The Project Lift team has competed in numerous J.O. Games and other AAU meets. William was named Powerlifting Coach of the Year in the World in 2005.
